Petra commented on group 1 and 3
The
month of March seems as if it went by extremely fast. I think large in part due to spring
break. Spring break was fairly early on
in the month and after classes resumed, it feels as if we, as a group, are just
getting back to our “normal”. Communication
for our group has been less this month and not that it was a bad thing. Not only spring break being a factor but also
we had worked out a “task” list for the remainder of the semester so although
communication was less, it was more effective this month. I think we are in a good spot heading into
the later part of the semester and course. March has been a much more productive, cohesive month for group 2. After a bit of a rough start, we have opened up our communication lines, established our own roles within the group, and submitted quality work within the deadline(s). We received high accolades for our work on assignment #2, Unique Adult Education programs. It was rewarding to see such support from our classmates.
Challenges for this month were different for each of us. Erin is wrapping up her last month at her job, finishing her last semester of graduate study, and preparing for her internship (which begins in May). Time management became essential and will continue to be a priority in April.
On a
personal note (Petra), the job search continues for me. I have a friend owns a nursing home and I
have been able to pick up a few hours a week there. But what has also been a learning situation
this month has been navigating thru the unemployment benefits world and all of
those requirements. I also have had a
significant amount of knee pain these past couple of weeks. I went into see the orthopedic physician and
basically my right knee, bilaterally, has “chuck holes”. And because of these chuck holes, the
cartilage flap over my knee isn't connected as it ought to be. The physician recommended surgery. I had the surgery this past Friday and pain
still continued, although a different kind of pain, the pain of the healing
process. Pain medication is helping me
but creates another obstacle or barrier…it’s called sleeping. The pain medication causes me to be sleepy
and although sleep is good for my body to heal, it’s hard being awake for
random amounts of time at random parts of the day.
We are looking forward to a strong finish next month by coordinating our best efforts on the Education E-archive. Here's to April!
March was difficult in terms of communication for our group as well. I think we tried several times to get an early start on assignments however it just didnt always work out. I think spring break did play a role however i personally also had a lot going on at work with budget meetings, and board presentations all at the same time. It feels like this semester has flown by but it will be important not to let spring fever take hold so that we can all achieve the best possible grade after everything is said and done.
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear you came up with a task list for everyone and have things planned out. I would love to do that, but never seem to be thinking enough ahead. Like Chris said, we tried to get an early start on things, but it was hard to get the ball rolling. For me, it seems like whenever we submit a paper it's like we want a break afterward when we should probably be getting started on our next big assignment.

Petra- I am so sorry about your knee! It sounds like a process. It's amazing how life happens and can totally through your typical schedule off track! Time management is so important but sometimes other things can take priority. I know this month I have gotten sidetracked by my the birth of my nephew! Also, my mom fell and broke her foot and has to get all of her front teeth pulled! It has just been crazy! So, I totally understand that managing time is a challenge for kids and adults alike! -Katie Ferguson
ReplyDeleteErin and Petra,
ReplyDeleteFrom your paper, I can tell you worked quite well as a group. I also like that your blog is very neat and well organized!
Petra, hopefully you will recover soon. Weeks ago my throat hurt very badly, I felt any type of illness could distract our work and our study. It is so good to keep the body healthy. But sometimes it is out of our control, and we have to slow things down a little bit to keep a good balance of our body, work and study.

Nice monthly review group 2, I am happy to read that with creating a "task" list you were able to be a more effective group when communication seemed to have decreased. I think that establishing roles within your group was key which reinforces accountability and respect for each individual in your group. I am ware that there are those who have very concise time management skills and tend to work at a more fluent flow, where others seem to manage their time differently, however. as roles are designated each group member is held accountable for their parts. contributing to an effective paper and cohesive work. Looking forward to hearing how
ReplyDeleteApril goes as it seems as though there are more demands and expectations head for us all. Nice Job!
