Erin commented on: group 1 and 3
For me, Petra, the month of April seemed to fly by with
finishing up the semester with 2 group projects and a reflection paper. I struggled to keep up as my health has
continued to plague my daily routine and trying to get caught up in the class
has been overwhelming.
Looking back, I
wish our group would have looked closer at the E-archive requirements more in
depth and built the site as we went along.
I found my creativity to be lacking when putting the E-archive website
blog together and have all the extra bells and whistles that other groups had
on theirs. I believe that putting it
together and making sure the requirements were there was in part of me being
overwhelmed by trying to get caught up on the course work which hindered my
creativity.
As far as working with my
other group member, it turned out to be a good partnership as I felt we
identified our individual strengths and tried to build upon those for our group
assignments.
I do have to admit that I
am struggling with the verbal introduction and survival mode requirement at the
end of the semester. I feel as if the
verbal introduction is repetitive to what our requirements tell us we have to
do and bring anxiety for me. I had great
difficulty in the beginning of the class preparing the video introduction and
do not look forward to completing that section for the end of the course
either.
Erin:
Continuity was the theme for April. We continued to keep the communication lines open between the two of us. Petra's task table continued to be referenced in order to delegate duties for the two assignments due: Important Adult Education Organizations and the e-Archive.
2. The two assignments were done with our best efforts and received high marks from our peers and instructor. It was also a lot of fun to learn a new web-based tool, Wix. Our classmates continued to impress as each group presented their own final projects.
3. Time management continued to be the key to success as Petra and Erin juggled day-to-day life duties. However, April was easier to handle than the prior months as we had worked out most of our bugs. Group 2 worked like a well-oiled machine! :)

Petra - glad you were able to make it through the semester. I have a lot of chronic health problems and they can really get in the way of getting stuff done.
ReplyDeleteYour comment about working on the E-Archive all along reminds me of my thoughts at the end of 634 last semester with Dr Chang. All of the major assignments for the semester were linked and built off each other, but most of the time we were so focused on getting the current task done. We could have saved ourselves some work if we had looked at the course work as a whole.

Delete---- Good suggestion, Ben!

I also was struggling toward the end of the semester with creativity. Luckily, I could lean on my partner for creating the e-archive structure. Petra, hopefully your health is improving and you are able to rest now that the semester is almost over. You guys did a great job.

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your health and pray that things work out for you. I can relate to the anxiety you've commented on as it may often be due to various course requirements and expectations. At times I too felt overwhelmed, my group was a little dysfunctional, we started out with 4 members, briefly heard from two and the two remaining had mostly hit or miss communication. We were able to pull things together at the end. Playing catch up can be difficult causing more tension and stress.Often times our time management and planning was off and didn't support one another needs. Bo was very supportive as I would keep in contact with her on the processes of my group. I plan to practice more with technology over the summer so that I don't feel so overwhelmed when presented with an assignment that requires its use.

ReplyDeleteI struggled with the technology to make the video post as well. I was upside down and few times. I finally held the camera upside down which made it impossible to balance the it and advance the pages. Oh well, I will learn the correct way to do sometime. My teenage nieces never thought they'd get calls from me asking for help with my homework.

April was a struggle for me as well. There are lots of changes in my workplace.
Petra,
ReplyDeleteYour group created a wonderful E-Archive! Your blog is also very clean and well-organized! Your group did an excellent job in this semester!
I know it must be stressful for some students to have audio/video introductions. I actually had hard time to create video/audio introductions, due to lack of practice. I believe if you do such audio/video introductions for plenty of times, you will become very natural. It is similar to a presentation in a conference. You can make a good PowerPoint for a presentation, but how to deliver the key ideas in PowerPoint to your audience could be a challenge for many beginners.
Erin did an excellent introduction about what you have studied, which helps your audience to know your project within several minutes. This has demonstrated the value of audio/video introduction.
In survival memo, Erin suggested to relax and enjoy what you are learning, which is a good tip to help students to think of doing your project as an experience of exploring a new, and exciting journey, rather than as a heavy task to complete. Intellectual exploration actually is a fascinating journey, and can bring you a lot of joy and happiness.
